114 – Mike Hamilton

Mike Hamilton is a native of Jacksonville, Alabama.  He attended Jacksonville State University where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education.  Additionally, he also served in the 313th Army Reserve Band from 1971 to 1980.

Mike taught high school band between 1973 and 1984 in Alabama and Georgia.  His schools included: Troup County High School, Clay County High School, Hoke’s Bluff High School, West End High School, Piedmont High School and Randolph County High School.  He also taught adjunct saxophone at Jacksonville State University.  In 1984, he left the teaching world and joined Hamilton Band Instrument Company and provided knowledge and assistance to band directors, students and their families.

Mr. Hamilton is a well-respected saxophonist.  He has performed with First Baptist Church of Jacksonville as well as Golden Springs Baptist Church.  Mr. Hamilton also held membership in the Alabama Bandmasters Association, Alabama Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference and Phi Mu Alpha.

In 2006, Mike joined Art’s Music Shop servicing schools throughout Alabama and Georgia.
